Ms. Kaila grew up training with The Dance Company in her native state of Pennsylvania. She graduated from Slippery Rock University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Performance and Choreography. At Slippery Rock University, Kaila held leadership roles as Student Director of the Slippery Rock University Dance Theatre, Rehearsal Assistant of the Afro-Columbian Dance Ensemble (ACDE), and Head Captain/Organization Coordinator of the dance team Jamrock. In 2015 and 2017, she performed with ACDE and taught an international residency in Colombia, South America. She has choreographed, produced, and performed works for The American College Dance Association.
Upon graduating, Ms. Kaila taught various styles of dance in South America, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. She then served as the Jazz Dance Program Coordinator and Choreographer for In Motion School of Dance in Bermuda, where she taught multiple levels of jazz technique as well as stretch, turns, and leaps, and led the school’s company rehearsals. While in Bermuda, she choreographed works for The Nutcracker and the 2018 Annual Showcase, as well as swing dance performances for HSBC International Bank’s Christmas Party and Bermuda’s Annual Agricultural Show.
Professionally, Ms. Kaila has performed at the New Hazlett Theater and the August Wilson Center in Pittsburgh, PA, as well as with the Lindsay Renea Dance Theatre in Youngstown, OH. She has danced in works by renowned guest artists including Helen Simoneau, Luis Fernando Trouchon, Marta Renzi, Lindsay Renea Benton, Teena Custer, Melissa Teodoro, Jennifer Keller, Thomas Cobb, Lindsay Fisher, and Ursula Payne.
Ms. Kaila is proud to serve as a faculty member and Assistant Director at MindBodyArt School of Dance. She is Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) Certified, Acrobatic Arts Certified, and an award-winning choreographer. Known for her collaborative spirit, she works closely with both faculty and students to bring her creative vision to life. Kaila is deeply passionate about inspiring her students and looks forward to sharing her experiences and love of dance with the MindBodyArt community.
