Dr. Julie
Faculty at MindBodyArt / Award-Winning Dance Choreographer | Costume Designer | Performing Arts Educator
Dr. Julie has been passionate about dance since the age of three, beginning her training at Miss Pauline’s School of Dance in Altoona, PA. Throughout high school, she performed on her school’s dance and pom teams and choreographed award-winning dance pieces for musicals, recitals, and competitions.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in French from Penn State University as a Schreyer Honors Scholar, where she also performed with the Penn State Blue Band and choreographed for the PSU Thespians. Julie later completed her PhD in Education at Penn State, focusing on Early Childhood Education, and is currently pursuing her elementary teaching certification to bring her love of movement and creativity into the classroom.
Over the past 15 years, Dr. Julie has costumed more than 60 productions, working with performers ages 1 to 91. She currently serves as the costume designer and instructor for the State College Area High School Thespians and collaborates with regional organizations such as Singing Onstage, PSU Opera, and Bucknell University.
For the past 8 years—since the founding of MindBodyArt—Dr. Julie has shared her expertise with our musical theatre program, recreational dance classes, and competition team. She brings a unique blend of artistry, scholarship, and mentorship to every class, encouraging students to grow in both confidence and creativity.
Beyond the studio, Dr. Julie is an Assistant Scoutmaster for Scouting America Troop 375 in Stormstown. In her free time, she enjoys running, biking, and canoeing the local trails and waterways.
MindBodyArt is proud to have Dr. Julie on our faculty, where she continues to inspire students through her award-winning choreography, educational insight, and passion for the performing arts.
