With over 35 years of teaching experience, Ms. Vicky brings a wealth of knowledge in ballet, modern, jazz, musical theatre, and African dance. Her journey began in her hometown of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, where she trained as a member of the Ballet Theatre of the Virgin Islands. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts with a Dance Emphasis from Penn State University, where her studies focused on anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, and dance pedagogy—giving her a strong foundation for developing dancers who are technically skilled, artistically expressive, and physically healthy.
During her time at Penn State, Ms. Vicky performed with the Contemporary Dance Company and Orchesis, and she had the unique opportunity to tour Israel with the Dance Collective. She has continued to expand her knowledge through advanced teacher training, including the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet Summer Teacher Training Seminar, certification in Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT), and training in mUvmethod Progressive Dance Conditioning. Her primary technical training encompasses a wide range of disciplines, including Vaganova, Cecchetti, Luigi, Giordano, Horton, Limón, Graham, and Dunham techniques.
Ms. Vicky’s teaching career has included more than a decade on faculty at Penn State University, as well as positions at Lock Haven University, the University of the Virgin Islands, and many private dance schools. Her influence as an educator is reflected in the success of her students, who have been accepted into world-renowned training programs such as American Ballet Theatre, School of American Ballet, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Miami City Ballet, Lines Ballet, Washington Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet, Kirov Academy of Washington DC, Ballet Magnificat, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, and École Nationale de Cirque. Many of her students have gone on to achieve professional careers in dance companies, circus arts, Broadway productions, and arts administration.
At the heart of Ms. Vicky’s teaching philosophy is her belief in training well-rounded, versatile dancers who understand the interconnectedness of all performing arts. She takes pride in cultivating not only technical excellence but also a deep appreciation for dance as an expressive art form and cultural practice. Above all, Vicky strives to inspire her students to embrace their individuality, pursue their passions, and carry forward a love of dance that will last a lifetime.
